ALL ABOUT THE BAG

FIRST, WE WILL START OUT TALKING ABOUT "THE BAG". I JUST GOT A NEW CAMERA BAG, SO WHAT MORE PERFECT TIME TO DO A "WHAT IS IN MY BAG" POST!? SEARCHING FOR A NEW CAMERA BAG COMES WITH LOADS OF DIFFERENT CRITERIA. FIRST, IT HAS TO BE BIG ENOUGH TO CARRY ALL OF MY ESSENTIAL EQUIPMENT. SECONDLY, IT NEEDS TO BE FUNCTIONAL AND LIGHTWEIGHT. THIRD, IT HAS TO BE STURDY. AND BY STURDY I MEAN IT HAD TO ENDURE BEING SLAMMED RANDOMLY INTO WALLS AT SOME POINT.

FOR YEARS, I HAVE BEEN FAITHFUL TO A PARTICULAR BRAND, BUT THIS YEAR I WANTED SOMETHING DIFFERENT. MY OLD BAG WAS HEAVY. LIKE WEIGHED 10LBS JUST ON ITS OWN. HEAVY.

SO ON WENT THE SEARCH FOR THE PERFECT FOR ME BAG. I RAN ACROSS EPIPHANIE. THEY CREATE GORGEOUS BAGS THAT ARE FUNCTIONAL, STURDY, AND LIGHT. SO CLICK. ADD TO CART. PURCHASE. WAIT FOR WHAT SEEMS LIKE FOREVER FOR THE CUSTOM MADE BAG TO BE MADE AND SHIPPED. GET BAG. PACK IT. CARRY IT AROUND THE HOUSE.

I AM IN LOVE. OBSESSED. YASSSSS...I FOUND THE BAG!

WHAT'S IN IT?

SO, WE TALKED ABOUT THE BAG...NOW TO TALK ABOUT WHAT'S IN IT!

I CARRY 2 PRO LEVEL BODIES AT ALL TIMES. YOU'RE PROBABLY WONDERING WHY. SHOULDN'T 1 CAMERA BE ENOUGH? MAYBE SO, BUT ACCIDENTS AND TECHNICAL PROBLEMS DO HAPPEN, SO A BACKUP IS ALWAYS HANDY!

I ALSO CARRY 3 DIFFERENT LENSES THAT ALL HAVE VARYING FOCAL LENGTHS AND CHOOSING THE LENS ALL DEPENDS ON WHAT I WANT FOR THE SESSION THAT DAY. AM I CHASING LITTLES? IS IT A SINGLE SUBJECT? SMALL FAMILY WITH OLDER CHILDREN? ALL KINDS OF VARIABLES DECIDE WHAT LENS I WILL USE.

MY FAVES ARE MY 35MM AND 50MM. THESE ALLOW FOR ME TO BE CLOSER IN TIGHT SPACES AND ALLOW FOR CHASING THE LITTLES.

PICTURED: 70-200MM, 35MM, 50MM, CANON EOS R, CANON 5D4, YONGNUO FLASH

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITES?

MY CURRENT FAVORITE LENS IS THE 50MM WITH MY CANON EOS R. ITS SHARP. PROVIDES AMAZING CREAMY BACKGROUNDS. AND IS JUST GORGEOUS!

MY FAVORITE FLASH IS THE YONGNUO. IT PROVIDES ADDITIONAL LIGHT FOR INDOOR LIFESTYLE SESSIONS WHERE NEEDED. THE IMAGES DON'T HAVE THAT FLASHY LOOK BECAUSE I AM ABLE TO CONTROL THE OUTPUT OF LIGHT FROM THE FLASH.

MY FAVORITE CAMERA IS THE NEW ONE. THE CANON EOS R. ITS A GAME CHANGER. AND THOSE COLORS...TO DIE FOR. I LOVED MY 5D4, BUT THIS CAMERA IS JUST A BEAST OF A TOOL.

THE CAMERA TAKES AMAZING PICTURES....

THIS IS ONE COMMON LINE THAT I GET ALL THE TIME. AND WHILE THE TOOL DEFINITELY CAN IMPROVE IMAGES, ITS NOT JUST THE CAMERA. THE CAMERA IS A TOOL. WHEN USED PROPERLY, PRODUCES AMAZING IMAGES. BUT THIS IS ALL DEPENDED ON THE PHOTOGRAPHER BEHIND THE CAMERA. THERE IS A LOT MORE THAN PUSHING THE SHUTTER BUTTON THAT GOES INTO BEING A PHOTOGRAPHER. UNDERSTANDING LIGHT AND LOCATION AS WELL AS COMPOSURE IS ALL AN IMPORTANT PART TO PRODUCING THOSE BEAUTIFUL IMAGES. IT'S A CONTINUOUS LEARNING EXPERIENCE. EVERY TIME I USE MY CAMERA I FIND OUT A NEW NEAT TRICK. EVERY EDIT I DO I FIND OUT SOMETHING NEW.

SO YES, THE CAMERA IS IMPORTANT, BUT KNOWING HOW TO OPERATE THAT CAMERA TO ITS FULLEST, AND KNOWING YOUR LIGHT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF CREATING.

SO, IF YOU HAVE A CAMERA, GET OUT THERE AND LEARN IT. EXPLORE, CREATE, AND HAVE FUN!
